On Saturday, 9 May 2026, the INTERSPORT Marathon of the GutsMuths Rennsteiglauf sends runners from Neuhaus am Rennweg to Schmiedefeld am Rennsteig through the forests of the Thuringian Wald, organised by the GutsMuths-Rennsteiglaufverein e.V.. Covering around 42.3 km of rolling forest trail and forest roads, this iconic cross-country marathon is a point-to-point journey along the historic Rennsteig ridgeway with festival-style support in the finish village.
