Foot bone bruise

Hi, 
I was recovering from another injury and dropped a 12 pound weight on the top of my foot. It hurt pretty bad the first day but disappeared by day 4. About a week after dropping the weight I started running again and did about 12 miles then 25 next week. Throughout this I felt some minor pain around the area of the bruise when I would move my toes but nothing crazy. By the end of the second week of running (about three weeks after dropping weight) there was a more noticeable pain. It didn't hurt to put weight on it but bothered me when I moved my toes, but there was never any swelling just a hard bump. It felt a lot like extensor tendinitis which I've had before. I've taken about 4 days off to give it more time, but im scared if I continue to run on the damaged bone that it will cause a fracture, or could the bump have irritated the tendon? What do you recommend?
