Hey everyone! Now that Endorphins has officially moved to its new app, I thought this would be a great opportunity to reintroduce myself to the community as people begin migrating over from Circle.
With that out of the way, Hi! 🙋🏻‍♂️ I'm Kobe. I've lived in Philly since 2018 where I attended Drexel University and graduated with a degree in Computer Science in 2023, which also happens to be the year I began my running journey! I signed up for Broad Street on a whim and ended up having such an amazing experience during the race (despite the torrential downpour) that I signed up for the Philly marathon the very same day. Over that summer I did the entirety of my training alone, and while it was great for my mental health/resilience, by the time 2024 came around I decided that I really wanted a community to share my miles with.
Enter Philly Endorphins!! My first ever run happened to be the 1 year anniversary for our club AND also less than 24 hours after I had raced a half marathon in Napa, California (it was a very looong day for me). I was instantly enamored by the Endorphins mission to spread P+H and I went to just about every single run that I could fit into my schedule. I've made so many amazing friends and had such incredible experiences because of this group, it's truly been life changing!!
For those of you that have been around a while, you might recognize me as one of your Pace Leads! At the moment I have stepped away from the role on hiatus while I train for the Jersey City Marathon in April. However you'll definitely still spot me at the Thursday and Saturday runs. If you're a newcomer to the group, or you've been around but we've never had a chance to talk, feel free to come up and introduce yourself!!
Some easy conversation starters:
  • telling me you favorite food/dish that includes mango (mango IS mandatory)
  • a conspiracy theory that you think is actually true
  • your favorite bar/restaurant in Philly (bonus points if they serve Guinness)
  • somewhere that you traveled to recently that you think more people should visit
WOW! That was a lot of words to type. If you read this far, thank you for indulging me and my spur of the moment writing exercise as I lay in bed recovering from the Saturday long run. Shoot me a follow on Strava and I hope you all have a great weekend!
And finally: GOOO BIRDSS 🦅🦅🦅
