How to dress for the cold tomorrow
Hello and happy weekending! As I assume most of us are hibernating in our homes today, I just wanted to give a few pointers for those still running tomorrow. Lets start at the top and work out way down.
Starting: Try your best to get there no more than 5 minutes early. We don’t want anyone standing around for too long. Lets get there and start moving ASAP!
Head/face: most of your heat escapes from your head. I would recommend a winter hat and some sort of buff to cover your face. If you can double layer to start with a buff/balaclava over your face and a hat that would be ideal. I highly recommend putting Aquaphor on your face/nose to act as a natural barrier as well. I will have some for the 6:30 group if anyone needs. If you have a lighter tint of sunglasses or even some sort of safety glasses vibe I would bring it. Blocking any wind from your eyes will help.
Hands: Double up on the gloves-a wool glove will be your best base layer! Your heavy duty winter gloves you’ve had since middle school might actually come in handy. If you want a thinner option and don’t have 2 pairs of winter running gloves I would suggest your normal running gloves and then taking a pair of socks to act like a “mitten” over top.
Feet: wool socks will help your toes! If you have some sort of Gortex/trail shoe pick that first.
Body: Remember that keeping your core warm is important! Start with a tight and moisture wicking base layer. On top I would suggest a thicker layering shirt or sweatshirt over your base . Finally a wind resistant jacket or puffer on top! I would suggest double leggings/pants. Thermal or fleece layering is the best!
Lets just be real, it will be cold. If you don’t feel like venturing out for either group, no hate. You OWN that treadmill tomorrow. But if you do come out, remember VIBES WILL ALWAYS BE HIGH and maybe we can get on the news.
