Long Run Tomorrow

Our Long Run is……. still on!

I know the temps have dropped this week, and will continue to drop overnight, but we are still getting after it tomorrow morning!

Last week, when it was quite warmer but mildly monsooning out, I shared a personal mantra of mine: “Keep Showing Up.” Good things happen when you continue to show up. Not every long run is going to be comfortable, not every run is going to be a PR, and not every day is going to be your best yet. But if you keep showing up (ESPECIALLY on the days when you don’t want to); wins stack, progress grows, and you’ll achieve some pretty amazing shit.

Come meet us at Heartbreak in the South End between 8-830, all the details are live in the “Group Runs” tab.

Because tomorrow will likely be our coldest run of the winter thus far, I want to reiterate some of my favorite tips for staying comfortable out there:

  1. Hat, gloves and bonus points for a buff or gaiter: You lose tons of your body heat through your head. Keeping a warm hat on during your run will trap that heat and help you feel warmer overall. Due to that slower circulation to your hands and fingers during a run, gloves will keep those hands nice and warm.

  2. Layers: Did you know that air is actually one of the best insulators? And with every layer you stack, you’re trapping one more layer of air in-between. On colder days, I always opt for 2 medium layers as opposed to 1 heavy layer, getting that extra layer of air will make a big difference!

  3. Try to make sure that your base layer, your first layer of clothing touching your skin, is a synthetic or wicking material. If you opt for cotton, all of that sweat will stay damp and have nowhere to go (yes, I promise that you will still sweat) and this will absolute chill you. A synthetic material or blend will do a much better job at pulling the sweat away from your body and drying quicker, keeping you much warmer!

Reach out if you have any questions, I’m looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow
