Broken Sesamoid Bone

Hi there! I am writing after receiving a not-so-positive x-ray that I have a broken sesamoid bone that failed to fuse back together. I was previously in a walking boot before my last training cycle but after running the Philly marathon, the pain has returned with vengeance. After returning to the doctor, I received a cortisone shot (OUCH!) which allowed the swelling to go down but the pain is still there. I am trying to get back to training but keep having to take days off and take anti-inflammatories. I have been running in a lower drop heel shoe and have tried different inserts with little/no success. Is there any hope that I can do another training cycle without further injury or any methods/suggestions to help me get through this?
