How do I get faster?
Hi!
I want to really work on improving my speed. Need help to set a pace improvement metric-goal!
Question:
In 6 months, what is a reasonable rate of time improved per mile, given consistent training and the pace history included below? For example in 6 months, could one expect to shave off a minute off their pace?
Weekly Training Plan:
- 3x recovery + 1x long + 1x speed/fartlek/tempo/hill (Nike Run Club—guided)
- 7× 40-minute strength conditioning (efficient rotation of muscle groups)
Pace History:
NYC United Half pace, 2023 = 12:15/ mi
NYC United Half pace, 2024 = 11:00/ mi
I never ran track—picked up running 18 months ago. So, would love to have any helpful chart pace listings that would help inform me and allow me to project different pace goals as I progress.
