June Wisconsin Camping Trip + Fox River Run

Hey everyone! Two completely unrelated things here just didn’t want to make two posts 🤪

Camping Trip

A couple of us have been talking about going for a weekend camping trip up to Wisconsin once it gets warm. Details aren’t worked out or anything yet but it’ll probably be sometime in mid-late June. I am tentatively thinking the weekend of the 15-16 (weekend after the BOA half) but still up for discussion. Location also still up for discussion. I think High Cliff State Park looks pretty nice but I don’t know the area so well so if anyone has suggestions please offer them. Anyway. the rough “plan” is to drive up on the Saturday morning, hang out, run around the forest, swim in the lake, campfire, food, dinner, you know. Camping. And then return Sunday afternoon. Fox River Run

Separately I was thinking of doing another run like the Wisconsin run where we take a Metra line far out of the city and run around and explore. I was looking at the other Metra lines and think the angle could be to take the first Aurora line (BNSF) out to Aurora and run along the Fox River trail from Aurora to Crystal Lake (total 39 miles), where another Metra (UP-NW) train can bring us back to the city. At Geneva (mile 10) and Elgin (mile 22) there are opportunities to join or take a train back to the city if you want to just join part of it. Also once again highly welcome anyone who wants to relay on/off biking alongside us. Thinking of making a longer stop in Elgin for lunch and stuff. Should be a fun day! I tentatively have this scheduled for Saturday May 18 but happy to move it to a different day if the people who are interested want.
