Hi! I ran Boston on Monday and had a bit of a traumatic experience featuring vomit at mile 18 after a few miles of pretty intense stomach cramping. Suffered through the last 8 miles and also threw up at the finish. 🫠ðŸ«
It was a really hot day (hotter than anything I trained in) but I’m not sure what I did wrong from a fueling / hydration perspective. Any tips? Below is what I ate/ drank - start time 11:15 which certainly didn’t help with the heat
7am - cinnamon raisin bagel with banana and PB, about 16oz of water (8oz plain and 8oz with nuun)
9am - 5 graham cracker sheets, about 12oz water with nuun
Sipped on more water til my start, maybe more than I should have?
10:45am a stroopwaffel /
11:15 start
drank a few sips of water and Gatorade Endurance at each aid station (every mile)
Gel every 4 miles though last one at 16 after which I couldn’t stomach anything
Maybe my issue was hydrating too much? I was so nervous about the heat that I may have overcompensated but I’m really not sure - or maybe it was an issue of mixing Gatorade / nuun / gels / water vs. being more prescriptive of when to take what
