It band syndrome knee pain

Hi!

I’ve been dealing with outer knee pain for the last 1.5 month and I believe it’s due to IT band syndrome. I’ve been trying to take two weeks at a time off from running but as soon as I start running again within a few miles the knee hurts again. I’ve started doing Pilates yoga and lifting to help with it to as of recently.

I’m running the Chicago marathon this year and training is supposed to start on Monday. Would you recommend waiting 2-3 more weeks before training or is it ok for me to still run with the knee pain ?
