This Week's Focus: Defining Community Roles
Over the past several months, our City Leads have been working on an important exercise to better define community roles, responsibilities, and standards. It has been a big time project that has required incredible thoughtfulness from our 50+ city leads.
Why is this Important?
Since Endorphins started in November 2022, we’ve experienced incredible growth and transformation:
Endorphins now proudly has over 50 City Leads across 11 cities in the United States.
Our coaching program, Endorphins 365, is led by three world-class coaches.
We are now powered by New Balance and have the opportunity to collaborate with many incredible brands.
We’ve grown from hundreds of friends to 19,000+ members.
We’ve impacted the lives of hundreds of thousands of people through our experiences, virtual community, social media, and race weekends.
Amidst all this growth, we've never had a formal conversation about what it truly means to be part of the community and the specific roles of City Leads, Pace Leads, and members.
The Importance of Consistency and Unity
As we continue to grow and evolve, it’s crucial that we do so together, ensuring our in-person and virtual experiences are consistent. Whether you’re in your local Endorphins group or traveling to another city, you should feel the same sense of belonging. That is our superpower—despite being spread across the world, we are united by our mission to spread positivity and happiness.
Behind the scenes, we’ve been deeply focused on how to preserve this superpower, not just for the immediate future, but for many years to come. I see a world where our kids can attend an Endorphins run. How special would that be?!? In order to survive that long, we need to put some structure in place. As you can imagine… this has been a MAJOR project for the City Leads, involving countless calls, workshops, and thoughtful discussions on maintaining our culture as our community grows.
City Lead Roles and Responsibilities
Two weeks ago, we held our first ever city lead vote with all 50+ city leads. We voted on the roles, responsibilities, and commitments expected of City Leads, aiming to define consistent standards across our community. This vote was crucial because, while we have groups in 11 cities, the role of a City Lead in Dallas might differ slightly from that in Miami, Austin, Boston, NYC, and beyond. By gathering input from City Leads in every Endorphins city, we ensured that these defined roles were truly built with the entire communities best interest in mind!
I want to take a moment to express how incredibly proud I am of our City Leads for how they handled this exercise. Their intentionality and thoughtfulness throughout this structuring process have been truly inspiring. It has never been so evident how much our leaders care about the impact we aim to create each and every day across the country.
After thorough review, edits, and discussions, we have solidified the City Lead role. Here you can find the final city lead roles, responsibilities, commitments, and standards. They are posted publicly and will persist in the #Community Standards and Guidlines! section within the community!
Upcoming Pace Lead Vote - This Week
This week, we will be hosting a similar exercise for our 150+ Pace Leads across all Endorphins cities that have a Pace Lead program. Just as we did with the City Leads, we will be collecting input and feedback on the roles, responsibilities, and commitments of our Pace Leads in over 8 cities.
We will be sending out a Pace Lead vote to gather this input and ensure that our Pace Lead roles are clearly defined and standardized across the board. This way for years to come it is clear what is expected of pace leads, how to become a pace lead, and how you can potentially transition from pace lead to city lead.
Similar to the City Lead roles, we will be compiling the Pace Lead input to create standards for our Pacers across the country. The final definition will live publicly in the community for all to revisit.
Looking Ahead: Member Involvement & Community Vote 24
Next week, we will be involving every member of the community in the discussion about membership roles, responsibilities, commitments, and standards through Community Vote 24. This is an exciting opportunity for us to come together as a united community and align on the values and aspects that make Endorphins so special. We want to hear from you about what you love most about being part of this community and how we can ensure that everyone clearly understands their role within it.
This vote will ultimately help us create a shared understanding of what it means to be an Endorphins member, ensuring that as we grow, we maintain the strong, positive culture that has brought us together. Together, we will shape the future of our community, ensuring it remains a welcoming, supportive, and vibrant space for everyone.
If you’ve made it this far… heck yeah! Comment the 🍦emoji and we will select a handful of you all to win a tasty surprise :)
Wishing you all an amazing week ahead!
Only the best,
Tyler
