City Lead Roles, Responsibilities, and Commitments

What is a city lead?

A City Lead is a member of Endorphins who is responsible for organizing, planning, communicating, and executing the logistics of Endorphins experiences. City Leads play a crucial role in ensuring that all events run smoothly and meet the needs of members. City Leads serve as the primary point of contact for members, providing clear and consistent communication about event details, updates, and community news. City Leads help ensure all of our members remain safe both in person at our runs and virtually. Additionally, they foster a welcoming and inclusive environment by engaging with the local community, promoting events, and encouraging participation. City Leads also develop and maintain partnerships with local businesses, sponsors, and organizations to support events and provide additional value to community members. By coordinating with Pace Leads and other team members, they ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for all participants, continually striving to enhance the quality of Endorphins experiences and uphold the mission of the community. This is an unpaid volunteer position.

Communication with Members: Serve as the primary point of contact for members, ensuring clear and consistent communication about event details, updates, and community news.

Member Safety: Prioritize the safety and well-being of all members by implementing safety protocols, monitoring events for potential hazards, and providing first aid resources. Ensure that all participants are aware of and adhere to safety guidelines during events.

Community Development: Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment by engaging with the local community, promoting events, and encouraging participation. Organize social activities and build relationships to strengthen the sense of community.

Feedback Collection / Community Votes: Gather feedback from members and Pace Leads to continually improve the quality and experience of events. Implement changes based on this feedback to better meet the needs and expectations of the community.

What is the in person time commitment of a city lead?

City Leads must be able to commit to being available, planning, and executing at least 60% of the runs in order to hold their role. This requirement ensures that City Leads are actively involved in the community, fostering strong relationships with members and maintaining a consistent presence at events. By regularly attending runs, City Leads can effectively oversee event logistics, address any issues that arise, and provide support to Pace Leads and participants. This commitment also allows City Leads to stay engaged with the community, understand the needs and feedback of its members, and continuously improve the quality of Endorphins experiences. This commitment will be self monitored and reviewed two times a year during the renewal period.

How long is the commitment of being a city lead?

For new city leads, the time commitment is 12 months. At the end of the first 12 month period, city leads will have the option to renew their commitment for another 6 months. There is no limit on how many times a City Lead can renew their commitment.

The commitment periods are:

  • January 1 -  June 30

  • July 1 - December 31

Why is there a renewal process?

The renewal process ensures that City Leads remain committed to their responsibilities and continue contributing effectively to the community. It maintains high standards of leadership by regularly assessing the commitment of being a City Lead. This process also allows for the integration of fresh perspectives by providing opportunities for new leaders to step up when current leads decide to step down. Being a city lead is a voluntary commitment and it is important to allow volunteers to opt in or opt out of the role while also maintaining continuity for our members.

How does the renewal process work?

Thirty days before the renewal date, City Leads will receive a self-evaluation to complete. The self-evaluation will review all duties of being a City Lead and ensure that they have met the necessary commitments. This process helps identify areas for improvement and allows City Leads to provide feedback on their experiences.

How to become a City Lead?

Each city will have a maximum of five City Leads. During each commitment renewal period, existing City Leads will assess whether they wish to continue in their role. If a current City Lead decides to step down, the remaining City Leads will nominate a current Pace Lead to step up and join the City Lead team. This nomination process ensures that new City Leads are already familiar with the community and its values, having demonstrated their commitment and leadership abilities as Pace Leads. The selected Pace Lead will then undergo a review and onboarding process to ensure they are prepared for the responsibilities and duties of a City Lead. This structured approach maintains a high standard of leadership within the Endorphins community.
