Dallas Weekly Announcement (8/25)

TLDR of this week’s announcement: Community Vote #3 results are in and will be posted later this week; We’ve got runs on the calendar Monday morning, Wednesday evening, and Saturday morning and would love for you to join us at as many as you’re able as we enter into Week 5 of Dallas Marathon/Half Marathon training⚡️💙

BMW DALLAS MARATHON TRAINING - Week 5 “Find Your Rhythm”

“Welcome to Week 5 of your marathon training journey! By now, you've built a strong foundation, and it's time to fine-tune your approach. Just as a musician finds their rhythm, you must discover your ideal pace for long-distance running. This week, pay close attention to your body. Listen to your breathing, your footfalls, and the cadence of your stride. Aim for that sweet spot where you feel both comfortable and challenged, where your body moves efficiently and your mind finds calm.” - Coach Stowe.

This week’s workout is similar to Week 2, but now a little longer: Start with a warm up of about 30 minutes, then, hit 6 to 8 reps of 90 second hills at 8/10 effort and then use 2 to 3 min recovery time to head back to the base of the hill in between reps. This week, take notice of how you feel compared to the last time you ran hills! We will not have an official workout in Circle, however, if you want to run your workouts alongside others in the community, post in the Dallas home space when you plan to do your workout!!! We would love for this community to train together as frequently as possible.

    • We won’t be hosting a long run this day (9/21) to encourage as many of ya’ll to register for this race. It’s a great way to practice all things “race day” from packet pick up to on course nutrition/hydration. If you’re following along with our training plan for the Dallas Half/Full marathon, mileage for 9/21 will be 6 (half) and 9 (full) miles. We recommend everyone signs up for the “quarter” marathon. Then, those of you training for the full can tack on an extra 3 miles as a group either before or after the race. Post race, you’ll get some of the best running swag around plus access to the Dallas Arboretum!

  • November 28th | Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot (5K or 8 Mile)

  • December 15th | BMW Dallas Marathon Festival (Mile, 5K or 8K, Half or Full Marathon)

    • The one we are all excited for!!! Whether you’re tackling your first race, are a Dallas Marathon veteran, or plan to bring the vibes in our cheer zone, we’re setting all sights on the BMW Dallas Marathon Festival this December🤸‍♀️🎉

    • FUN NEWS… 🥁 This month, we’re raffling off one free entry for either the 5K or EIGHT K on Saturday AND one free entry for either the Marathon or Half Marathon on Sunday!!!

      • You will get one entry into the raffle for EVERY run you attend this August. There are 3 more runs on the calendar for August!!! This means 3 more options to have your name entered into the raffle!!!

      • We will announce the winners at our long run on August 31st!!!

      • Note: If you have already registered, we sadly cannot give you a refund for this year’s race. However, should you win, you can choose to apply the free entry to next year’s race!

    • More details to come on this weekend, but for now, one thing you can plan on is our shake out run on December 14th at 10AM!

RUNS + HANGS THIS WEEK (8/26 - 8/31)

Please RSVP to our runs as frequently as you can! While this isn’t required, it is extremely helpful for us as City Leads. We often use RSVPs in Circle to help us assess what kind of support we might need for each particular run (ex: pace leads on Saturdays). We have a classic week ahead.

  • Endorphins Monday | 5:30 AM at Fairgrounds Coffee (4 miles)

    • Post run hang at Fairgrounds Coffee

  • Wednesday Social Run | 7:00 PM at Spring Creek Nature Area in Richardson (3 miles)

    • Post run hang at Good Union Urban BBQ

  • Saturday Long Run | 6:30 AM at Pull Through Coffee (2 mile walk; 4 & 7 mile runs)

    • Half Marathoners - your training has officially kicked off!!!

    • Post run hang in the parking lot at Pull Through. If you want, bring your lawn chairs and stay a while.
