IT band syndrome mixed PT advice

Hi there! I was training for a marathon in December but likely will be postponing that. For a number of reasons I’ve discovered I have IT band syndrome as diagnosed by two physical therapists. My PT consists of working on glute strength training as she thinks that’s the main culprit. I would love to get perspective from other runners that have dealt with it. I’ve found with glute activation, increasing my cadence and slowing my pace down significantly the discomfort is only nagging. But I would love for it to go away *completely* and didn’t really get any feedback on what that looks like. I was advised to continue running at a very slow pace and for more trial and error but I really want to go about this the best way possible. I’m happy to take time off, continue icing, baby it, whatever—-but anyone have any success stories or recommendations? Would love to get this healed up properly. ❤️
