BMW DALLAS MARATHON TRAINING - Week 7 “Embrace Adversity”
“Welcome to Week 7 of your marathon training journey, a week themed "Embrace Adversity." As you progress in your training, you're likely to encounter challenges and obstacles, and this week, we'll focus on facing them head-on. This week is a peak week. Meaning we will be hitting our peak amount of weekly mileage. Our first taste of adversity. Tasting adversity is not a sign of weakness; it's a testament to your commitment. Embrace it, learn from it, and let it fuel your determination to keep moving forward. The taste of adversity now will make the taste of victory on marathon day all the sweeter.” - Coach Stowe.
Check out this announcement for more information on Endorphins' very own training program - Endorphins 365.
This week’s workout: Start with a warm up of about 2 miles, then, hit 4 sets of 2 -3 reps of 400 meter repeats. Start this workout at 10k pace and gradually increase your speed towards the back half of the workout to approach your 5k pace. Finish off with a 1-2 mile cool down at a nice and easy pace. We will not have an official workout in Circle, however, if you want to run your workouts alongside others in the community, post in the Dallas home space when you plan to do your workout!!! We would love for this community to train together as frequently as possible.
COMMUNITY VOTE #3 RESULTS
Thank you to everyone who participated in the August Community Vote! We do community votes to make sure decisions are made with community input. We’ve LOVED building this community in Dallas and have been so grateful for your feedback the last 4 months! With that being said… let’s get to it🫡
Upcoming Races - 94.7% of you are training for an upcoming race which is SO FUN!! And for 21.1% of you, it’s your FIRST EVER RACE!!! One of the things that brings us most joy as City Leads is watching you all do things that push you out of your comfort zone. Whether that’s showing up at 5:30am on a Monday morning to get the miles, running with a pace group you haven’t run with before, or signing up for a distance you’ve never attempted, we are SO proud of all of you and the way you’re tackling goals. 73.7% of you will be rocking and rolling at the Dallas half or full marathon!!! We cannot WAIT to pop confetti at all of you as you run by.
Additional Morning Run - Because so many of you are training for fall races right now, you would be down to add a morning run through the fall to help motivate you to get out the door and get the miles in. And we love that. SO here’s how it’ll go down… Starting later this month, we’re going to add Thursday mornings at 5:30AM at Fairgrounds coffee to the schedule. Copy and paste of Monday mornings!!
One run that won’t be an official run in Circle, but one we think would be great to add to your morning routine of runs, is 6:00AM Wednesday mornings at Luke’s Locker. There’s several members of local running groups that meet to run either 4.5 or 6.5 miles every week and then hang around afterwards to eat bagels courtesy of Luke’s!
Saturday Long Runs - An overwhelming majority of you would love to sleep in a little once temps start dropping a little. So, through the month of September, we’re going to keep our start time at 6:30AM! BUTTTT starting October 5th, we’re going to bump our time back 30 minutes to 7:00AM. We will follow suit similarly for evening runs by starting them earlier so we run with some sunlight this fall!!
Help with Training - Thanks to all of you who left feedback here! Some things we heard were, “water stations”, “keep sharing weekly workouts in weekly announcements”, “warm up stretches”, “more runs during the week”.
Can’t wait to see y’all this week⚡️💙
Kim Spaulding, Karrington Slaydon, Josh Williams, Nick Miller, Dylan Melnar, Emma Cone
