Injury/long runs for nyc marathon
Hello! I’m running the nyc marathon this November and it’ll be my first marathon. I’ve been following the NYRR training plan consistently but early in September I developed pretty bad plantar fasciitis, which threw me off my long run schedule and I started going to physical therapy. I ran the chicago half marathon the weekend I was supposed to do 18 miles, and then the first week of October I came down with a bad cold so I haven’t run the past week. I’m trying to balance letting my body recover and also getting in the long runs to make sure I’m ready for the endurance. I’m nervous to jump from 13 to 18 or 20 once I’ve recovered (likely next weekend 10/12) but that seems to be the only option. I don’t want to throw in the towel and pull out for this year, but I’m getting nervous as it gets closer that I haven’t been able to do the key long runs. Thanks for the help!
