Hi everyone!

I am beyond excited to share that this year, I will be running the 129th Boston Marathon with the Massachusetts General Hospital Marathon Team, raising funds for pediatric oncology, emergency response, and Home Base at Massachusetts General Hospital.

My youngest sister, Morgan, was diagnosed with two brain tumors at the age of nine — the next five years of our lives were filled with surgeries, chemotherapy, proton radiation, nausea, hair loss, countless doctors and nurses, missed school and sports games, constant fear and anxiety, and luckily for our family, treatment at Mass General Cancer Center. Every single person we interacted with at Mass General was unfailing kind and generous — Morgan’s radiation nurse who knew to play her favorite song while she was receiving radiation, the hair stylist that shaved Morgan’s head and made her feel beautiful when her hair grew patchy, her oncologist that answered every question, got to know her, and comforted her fears for the future. They all made one of the scariest, most exhausting times of Morgan’s young life, easier, more comfortable, and less anxiety inducing. Now, Morgan is studying social work in college, inspired by all of the incredible social workers, nurses, doctors, and staff members that took such incredible care of her as a sick child.

And now, I have the privilege of getting to help share the incredible stories of Mass General’s patients, healthcare providers, and community of donors, working in the Mass General Development Office — and I ended up here because I have my own Mass General story.

I started running this year, training for several half marathons, and it has completely changed my life for the better, giving me the most amazing community, and a sense of purpose and confidence. Running this iconic race while also raising funds for this institution that is so deeply important to me will be one of the greatest accomplishments of my life.

Thank you for considering making a contribution to support cancer care and research at Mass General, to support Mass General’s unparalleled ability to deliver compassionate, expert care, and to accelerate the translation of research discoveries to clinical care.
