Pain in ball of foot

I’m training for an October marathon and recently started feeling pain in the ball of my foot. I ordered new shoes, as I thought that might be the problem, but I’m wondering if I should take any time off to let it heal? I’m entering some high mileage weeks and don’t want to make it worse. The pain is pretty mild when I run, but after my runs it flares up quite a bit and almost feels like I’ve bruised my foot. Any suggestions on what to do would be much appreciated!!
