Achilles tendonitis / shin splints
Hi there - I’m currently training for the Cambridge ½ and am about 4 weeks into my training. As of about 1 week ago, I started experiencing shin splints and pain in my achilles.
I’m not new to running but was still sure to take my training very slowly and gradually increase my mileage. I also warm up before and stretch after every run. I just tried to run tonight and couldn’t run a mile without stopping because of the pain.
Does anyone have any advice as to what may be causing these problems / how I should tailor my training schedule to recover from these injuries?
I know I should probably take some days off but don’t want to get too behind/lose any progress I’ve made!
