Adductor magnus pain

Started feeling tightness the last 2 miles of my 21 mile long run last Saturday. The pain would ease up after I stopped and stretched I was able to finish the after continuous stopping and stretching. Post run it felt painful/ very sore. I’ve been doing ice and heat since as well as stretching. Got through Monday’s easy run without sharp pain, just discomfort. Took off Tuesday and Wednesday. I did an easy run today- had some discomfort and one very brief period of sharp pain that quickly went away after stopping and stretching. I got a dx of adductor magnus strain today with recommendation of massage, stretching, heat/ ice. Would love some direction with training if possible! Is it ok to continue running easy or is it best to rest it completely? Training for New York and want to go about this injury in the smartest way. Thanks in advance! :)
