Hunger during long runs
I’m currently at the 18/20 mile long run portion of my training and have been ravenously hungry in the last 45 min of my long runs (and it results in me losing concentration or trying to rush through the last couple miles). I’m a slow runner so 20 miles takes me about 3.5 hours. Pre run: I’ll have a bagel with butter. Sometimes adding a hard boiled egg. During the run: I’ll either do a tailwind per hour (50g of carbs) or a huma gel every 30-40min (also about 50g/hr). Does anyone else have a similar problem & what has helped? Do people eat actual food during a marathon? Im not sure if I should be practicing that to help ward off the stomach growling as gels don’t seem to be cutting it. Thxs in advance <3
