First time marathon: Lighter/racing shoes or nah?

Looking for thoughts on if most people recommend buying and trying (before ofc) a specific race shoe for their marathons? Important disclaimer that this is my first, so I am trying to go for fun and completion. That said, I do get the benefits in switching from my heavy Hokas for a lighter shoe/flat to feel faster and grew up always doing so in HS & college.

Obviously not an elite so I know it’s not absolutely necessary… but also taking it seriously and want to feel swift as I push myself :). Thanks!
