Backup winter marathons after NYC cramping
I ran NYC this past weekend - and boy was it an experience! Unfortunately it just was absolutely not my day and my legs cramped half way through despite me taking gels every 4 miles and taking water at almost every station. I had to slow it way down if I even wanted to make it across the finish. A bummer since this was my best training cycles, and I know I am capable of so much more.
Posting to see if anyone has suggestions on any Winter marathons that are flatter/cooler? I am planning on Chicago for next year but I don’t want all this training cycle to go to waste. I live in Philly but I feel like the turn around of just two weeks is too soon (I don’t want to get injured). Or would you suggest just resting it out and doing a half in March and then waiting til Chicago for another full? Thank you in advance ☺️
