Runners Knee Mid-Training Plan

Hi - I developed some pain in my left knee (under the kneecap / toward top of the knee) especially when stopping and starting and downhill. I moved mileage up pretty gradually from ~30 miles per week up to 40-45 but with additional stress from tempos etc.

Question is what’s the best course of action ~12/13 weeks out from a marathon with the plan still working up to peak mileage of 55 mpw? Can a runners strap hold me over even with a bit of soreness while I work on strengthening the surrounding area? Or do you really have to pause completely until it’s rehabbed?
